In another SEO tip discussion, we discussed the concept of “Long Tail Keywords”. These are basically strategic keywords or keyword phrases that best describe the topics of your online business.
One other powerful SEO tip is a bit less obvious to a lot of people. It is a technique that could yield positive results in your efforts to elevate your search rankings on most search engines. How you structure your business website can actually make a significant difference. How the website flows in very high ranking websites is not random by any means. It is a very well planned out to facilitate SEO.
Once you have determined your strategic keywords or keyword phrases are, make sure you dedicate one entire webpage to each of your keywords. When you start creating backlinks using anchor texts based on your keywords, the backlinks will point directly to the page with the specifically assigned keyword. This is also considered as a “deep link” which is helpful to your SEO efforts for good search engine rankings.
Consider this. If your website is about workout routines, you may want to have a fairly high level introduction or landing page for your website. But as you dig a bit deeper, you may want to dedicate separate subpages about exercises for biceps, triceps, chest, back, quads, etc. You get the picture.
And for each of these pages, you can write articles on back exercises (for example) on E-zine or other fitness forums, then backlink your discussion post to your website’s subpage on “back exercises”, with “back workout” as your anchor text. Easy as pie. Got it?
With some efforts, each page of your website will be focused on its very own specific keyword or keyword phrase. You can then start creating backlinks with relevant anchor texts linking back to these subpages. Essentially, each subpage of your business website will be optimized on its own.
If you structure your business website this way, your chances of achieving higher rankings on each of your strategic keywords or keyword phrases will be much higher. This is a very focused approach, and will yield plenty of organic / free traffic from all your strategic keywords, if executed properly.
There are many other ways to drive traffic to your website. Buying advertisements such as Adwords (Pay-Per-Click), contextual advertising, email marketing, etc. But those topics are beyond the scope of this discussion, and are definitely worthy of being discussed separately. Perhaps another time…
