SiteGround Pricing | How Much Does Each Plan Cost?
Our independent research projects and impartial reviews are funded in part by affiliate commissions, at no extra cost to our readers. Learn more
SiteGround offers a variety of hosting types, and it’s a particularly good choice for WordPress hosting, but how competitive is its pricing? Which plans should you choose? Is it good value for money in comparison to other hosting providers? We’ll explore all of this and more in our SiteGround pricing review.
SiteGround’s cheapest hosting plan starts at $2.99 per month for an annual plan. Very affordable at first glance! However, in our research, it scores pretty poorly for value for money overall. Still, SiteGround is a good choice for the right user, particularly if you need ecommerce hosting for an online store. Here’s a quick look at how well SiteGround ranked in our latest research across some key hosting areas, including the all important “pricing” score:
As you can see, SiteGround’s value for money rating looks weak, scoring 1.7 out of 5 overall. Out of the 13 hosting providers we tested, this score puts SiteGround in last place for price. What’s important, though, is being able to sift through its overpriced plans, and unearth the ones of genuine value – which we’ll highlight throughout.
SiteGround’s pricing structure can appear a little confusing, largely because SiteGround duplicates its plans and fees across a variety of hosting types. So bear with us! We’ve gone into detail on each hosting type, plan, and additional costs, to bring you everything you need to know.
For fair comparison with other providers, we’ll be referencing SiteGround’s 12-month subscription prices, unless otherwise stated.

Shared Hosting Prices
Shared hosting is the most basic – and generally cheapest – type of hosting. If you’re looking to get your website online for as little as possible, shared hosting is your best bet.
SiteGround has three shared hosting plans. Take a look at the 12-month fees below:
- StartUp: $2.99/month
- GrowBig: $4.99/month
- GoGeek: $7.99/month
This price is only applicable for your first year, however, meaning once it’s over, you’ll be charged full price.
For example, if you commit to the StartUp plan for a year at $2.99 per month, it’ll then renew at $14.99/month. A real jump in price, so be prepared! But it is an amazing deal if you do plan to commit to an entire year up front – you’ll save 80% every single month.
The issue is, not everyone’s so confident in committing to a provider for that long, and you’ll only get the discounted price for the first year. SiteGround’s renewal prices are staggering, which is why it came joint last in our shared hosting price research, scoring a poor 2.4 out of 5.
For this reason, we don’t recommend SiteGround’s shared hosting plans if you’re on a tight budget!
You can get cheaper discounted rates (and a better product) from the likes of DreamHost, which scores 4.4 out of 5 in our price testing, while IONOS even offers shared hosting for a single buck per month for the first year!

SuperCacher | ✔️ | ✔️ | ✔️ |
Priority support | ❌ | ❌ | ✔️ |
But... what does it all mean?
We appreciate these terms may be unfamiliar, so here’s a quick overview of what each one means:- SSL Security – A certificate that secures your visitor’s data when they browse and interact with your website. You can tell if a site has SSL by the little padlock symbol next to the URL.
- Daily Backups – SiteGround lets you restore your site to a previous state, should you run into trouble. These backups happen daily, so that’s the last point you’ll be able to restore from.
- SuperCacher – Once someone has visited your site, SiteGround’s SuperCacher will store a copy of the page they visited. This means that if they come back to the page at a later date, it’ll load faster for them.
- Priority Support – SiteGround offers 24/7 support to all its customers via tickets, live chat, and phone. If you’re on the GoGeek plan, your help requests will be prioritized ahead of other customers.

WordPress Hosting Prices
WordPress hosting is designed specifically for websites built on WordPress. It comes with a bunch of cool features that make hosting a WordPress site super easy.
There are three WordPress hosting plans on SiteGround. For all intents and purposes, they are the same plans SiteGround uses for shared hosting, so the 12-month pricing will look familiar:
- StartUp: $2.99/month
- GrowBig: $4.99/month
- GoGeek: $7.99/month
Similar to shared hosting, these prices are only available for your initial signup period of one year. After that, prices are back to the regular fees of $14.99–$39.99/month.
SiteGround is personally recommended by WordPress, and offers great value for money, scoring 3.6 out of 5 for price in our WordPress hosting research. For context, WordPress’ other recommended providers – Bluehost and DreamHost – start their managed-hosting plans at $4.95/month and $16.95/month, respectively.
If you run an ecommerce store on WordPress, you can even get specific hosting for WooCommerce. In short, SiteGround’s WordPress hosting is one of its very best services.
SiteGround WordPress Hosting Features
As we’ve mentioned already, SiteGround’s WordPress hosting plans are the same as its shared hosting plans. That being said, you do get some additional WordPress extras, which are available on all three plans. These include:
- One-Click Installs – SiteGround has a built-in function which allows you to integrate your WordPress website with its own cPanel dashboard in just one simple click.
- Free WordPress Migration – Simply install SiteGround’s WordPress Migrator tool and the rest will be taken care of for you.
- Automated WordPress Updates – SiteGround provides automated updates to all WordPress software, so you don’t have to think about it! Minor updates occur every two weeks, while major ones happen every couple of months.

WooCommerce Hosting Prices
WooCommerce hosting is designed for anyone running an online store using WordPress. It comes with specific features to help you run your ecommerce business.
Alongside SiteGround’s WordPress-specific plans, it also provides ecommerce hosting. There are three WooCommerce hosting plans to choose from, all of which offer similar features for the same price as its standard WordPress and shared hosting plans:
- StartUp: $2.99/month
- GrowBig: $4.99/month
- GoGeek: $7.99/month
However, SiteGround’s WooCommerce plans also come with tools designed specifically to help you set up and run an ecommerce store.
SiteGround has an official recommendation from both WordPress and WooCommerce, meaning you can trust that its tailored plans are pretty high quality! And they’re good value for money, scoring 3.9 out of 5 for price in our ecommerce hosting research.
Running an online store comes with its own set of needs that need to be dealt with on a day-to-day basis, but WooCommerce hosting provides you with tailored features to help you manage your ecommerce business when using WordPress.
SiteGround WooCommerce Hosting Features
As you can probably tell already, SiteGround likes to duplicate features across its hosting types and plans. You’ll find the WooCommerce hosting plans pretty much mirror SiteGround’s WordPress hosting plans, including features such as automatic WordPress updates, free WordPress migration, and daily backups.
But the WooCommerce hosting plans do offer some helpful extras specifically tailored to store owners:
- Easy WooCommerce Setup – SiteGround has a click-and-install feature, which makes it super easy to set up your WooCommerce store. SiteGround automatically installs WordPress with the WooCommerce plugin, along with the professional Storefront theme. It’ll all be ready to go within minutes, and you don’t even have to lift a finger, or do anything technical. Just sit back and let SiteGround do the work!
- Free WooCommerce Transfer – If you already have a WooCommerce store elsewhere, you can use SiteGround’s free WordPress Migrator to easily transfer your site. All you need to do is install the plugin on your existing store, copy a token from your SiteGround control panel into the plugin, and then relax as the Migrator securely transfers your content. Alternatively, SiteGround offers a paid migration service, where its own professionals carry out the migration for you. Pricing for this service starts at $30 per site.

Cloud Hosting Prices
Cloud hosting gives you the perfect balance of power and affordability. Rather than tying you down to one server, it pulls resources from lots of different places, creating a ‘virtual’ server instead.
SiteGround offers four cloud hosting plans, as well as the ability to create your own custom plan. For a 12-month plan (where you’ll save 10%!), set prices range from $90– $380/month, while a top spec custom made plan could set you back a whopping $2,090/month (billed monthly). Take a look at the individual plans below:
- Jump Start: $90/month
- Business: $180/month
- Business Plus: $270/month
- Super Power: $380/month (3-month term)
These plans are incredibly expensive, especially in comparison to other providers. A2 Hosting, for example, provides cloud hosting from as little as $6.59/month. SiteGround’s service may be powerful, but, in our opinion, it doesn’t warrant the eye-watering fees.

Reseller Hosting Prices
Reseller hosting is where you purchase a year’s worth of hosting, then sell it on to someone else. It’s usually used by web design agencies and developers who want to offer clients more than just website creation, or those looking to start their own web hosting company.
Reseller hosting works in a very different way to other types of web hosting. You purchase “credits”, which are the equivalent of one year’s worth of shared hosting. These can then be resold to others for a monthly fee.
Essentially, you become the middleman between the hosting provider and the person who’s actually using the hosting service.
SiteGround has three reseller plans to choose between, combining shared hosting and cloud hosting options. Take a look at the 12-month pricing below:
- GrowBig: $4.99/month
- GoGeek: $7.99/month
- Cloud: from $90/month
We recommend checking out the middle GoGeek plan which costs $7.99 per month, and renews at $39.99 per month.
The GoGeek plan includes 40GB disk space, WordPress auto-updates, daily and on-demand backups, plus priority support and the ability to white-label clients.
Think of reseller hosting like asking someone to design a WordPress website for you. They don’t own WordPress, but they’re highly knowledgeable, and are on-hand to help you. If you sell hosting, you need to know how it works, and should support those you sell it to.

Additional Costs
One thing that’s crucial to getting your website online is purchasing a domain name.
SiteGround covers a lot of things that you may have to pay extra for with other providers – security, backups, a website builder, etc. – but one thing you will have to fork over for is a domain name. Though, many providers, including Bluehost, offer a free domain with their hosting plans!
Your domain name is what appears after www. – for example: ‘websitebuilderexpert.com’
The cost of a domain varies depending on what type of domain you want – .com is the most common, with SiteGround charging $17.99/year for these domains . And that’s just for the 1st year! After that, SiteGround will charge $19.99 per year.
For a quick pricing breakdown of the most popular domain endings, see our table below:
Domain | SiteGround Price |
---|---|
.com | $17.99/year |
.net | $19.99/year |
.org | $19.99/year |
.info | $24.99/year |
.co.uk | $19.99/year |

SiteGround Pricing: Summary
And… breathe. That’s all of the hosting types SiteGround offers – every individual pricing plan, under one roof.
By now, you should know what sort of features your website needs, which type of hosting you need, and which plan suits these needs best. That being said, it’s clear that SiteGround isn’t the winning choice if value for money is important to you – though its WordPress hosting plans put up the strongest fight!
And, unfortunately, SiteGround doesn’t offer any VPS or dedicated hosting plans, so you’ll be limited if you’re looking to scale your website.
To recap what we have covered, you can see all of the pricing ranges SiteGround offers for a 12-month term below:
SiteGround Hosting Prices
- Shared Hosting: $2.99–$7.99/month
- WordPress Hosting: $2.99–$7.99/month
- WooCommerce Hosting: $2.99–$7.99/month
- Cloud Hosting: $90–$380/month ($380/month is for a 3-month term max.)
- Reseller Hosting: $4.99–$90/month
It’s pretty obvious that SiteGround’s cloud hosting and shared hosting plans aren’t great value for money, but if you’re looking for the best value option, we’d recommend SiteGround’s WooCommerce plans.
SiteGround plans also come with a 30 day money-back guarantee. That means you can try any hosting plan for a month, and if you don’t like it, you can cancel for a full refund. There’s literally no risk involved!
